A Red Barn in Fayette County
This quilt began as a watercolor painting of a red barn and the surrounding landscape. By thoroughly saturating a piece of fabric and the painting of white glue, the two fibers, paper and fabric were fused together. The glue dispersed and softened the painting to give an illusion of fog. After the piece was completely dry, Denna free-motion quilted with various colored threads and embellished with fabrics bits.

This is the artist's interpretation of American Landscape. It is a memory of hers from 1972, when traveling to New Mexico during a church trip. To recreate her memory, she drew an original paper pieced pattern for the windmill, tree, and house blocks. They are set into a black night of fabric. The only colors present, are the Christmas lights on the various structures. She outline quilted the various components with black thread and added a string of lights windmills fading into the distance.
